RF + Optimization module

Hi,

I want to use the optimization module to optimize the geometrical parameters of a waveguide. After each iteration, a merit function defined as the difference between the effective index of the first two calculated modes [i.e. emw.neff(1) - emw.neff(2) ] shall be calculated.

Do you know how can I define this merit function?

I am not an expert in your engineering field, but from the looks of it this seems like a job for the with() operator. See Reference Manual, version 4.4, page 220 (or version 5.0, page 229).
