does anyone know if COMSOL has a validation package similar to what ANSYS does. We are working on a project related to nuclear licensing, and it will be helpful to know what steps I need to take to verify this package, if it's possible at all.

We have qualified COMSOL for nuclear-safety related calculations on our facility. Please see papers related to this topic at past COMSOL conferences by searching for my name from this web site. We are required to re-quality for each new version that we use for a given set of applications. We have to do that ourselves using models from the COMSOL model library, and/or using special validation models we have developed that can be used for this purpose. We can automate this process to a certain extent by using the COMSOL batch mode of operation.
By comparison, other code systems such as ANSYS and ABAQUS also have a V&V capability that comes standard as part of the installation of their product. Some codes also include an ISO-9001 qualification certificate. These features allow for a certain amount of the work required to qualify a code to be reduced. However, there is still a certain level of work that is required regardless. To my knowledge, no code comes provided "out of the box" to be nuclear qualified for an application without some level of additional work that must be done for the specific facility to be analyzed.
We are hoping that COMSOL will someday provide an automated set of scripts to verify the model library that is provided with the COMSOL product(s) on a given installation. This would certainly enhance the product and also aid in the use of nuclear-safety qualification.

COMSOL recently added to our website this page that gathers well over a hundred verification and validation models and their documentation. Models can be filtered by discipline or by module, as well as searched through via a free word search. They range from the small to the very large and cover an extremely wide range of engineering fields.
The pre-computed solutions for those models are either available within the software upon installation (through File > Application Libraries) or can be downloaded from our servers, making it possible to verify that the software gives the same results on your machine as it does on our developers' computers. As Jim points out above, that task can be automated through MATLAB or with Java programming.
