Mesh technique in heat transfer

Please login with a confirmed email address before reporting spam

Hi all,

I am modelling a pipe flow with a finite block with 'Non-isothermal pip flow' and 'heat transfer in solids'.
The block is heated by the flowing fluid. Since the pipe flow in this module is modeled as a 1D pipe flow, I am wondering how to appropriately mesh the block near the pipe where the steepest temperature gradient exists. Should I create a small cylinder around the pipe and refine the mesh with the cylinder?

Any idea would be much appreciated!!
