Displacement Field

Hey:
I would like to know what is the difference between Displacement field and Displacement gradient. I developed a poroelastic model to simulate a reservoir in the soil.

Dear Kimia,

Generally speaking, a displacement gradient is a measure of deformation. The Wikipedia page describing displacement gradient is quite good ( en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deformation_(mechanics) ).
