How to deal with meshing for the thin bodies

Please login with a confirmed email address before reporting spam

Hi All,

I am dealing with some very thin bodies, let's say, the thickness is 2mm, and width is 1000mm. I encounter difficulity to mesh these thin bodies.

Do anyone have some suggestions? Thanks.

Hi,

see this very useful KB www.comsol.com/support/knowledgebase/120/, otherwise you can also use "Shell" elements if you're working in Solid Mechanics.
There's also a tutorial "thin_film_resistance", depending on your physics.

Kind regards

In 2D, try mapped mesh, in 3D swept mesh.
