Large deformation - compression

Hello!

I am a newbie at Comsol programming, trying to come to terms with the program. I have a very simple model of a material under compression. The material (should) undergo large deformation when put under pressure. I have modelled this with a larger steel rectangle pressing down onto a smaller rectangle of my material (human tissue, with values taken from literature). This works fine when I am running the program with "small" deformations (ab 12% of the height of the tissue/deforming material). If I try and displace it further ( I would ideally want to reach 50% height deformation (ie, that the material is 50 % "shorter" after compression)) it seems that the contact pairs I've created are overruled, and the deforming material does not move at all.

Am I trying to deform it too much without using the equations for hyperelastic materials?

I have attached my (very simple!) model to the message, if anyone has any comments/suggestions please let me know!

anna

Hi

I'm not by my WS so I cannot open your model, but have you at least turned ON the non-linear geoemty setting in the solver setting ? (probably, by default if you have "contact physics" defined)

Good luck

Hiya!

Thanks for the fast response. Yes, non-linear geometry is turned on :)
