Using the results of iteration as input to next iteration?

I am using Comsol to calculate cooling in oil-paper isolation. The iteration is slow and does not converge easily. I have reduced the damping factor to achieve a reasonable solution.
It would be fine to be able to use the results of the previous solution as start values of a new iteration process. In this process I can reduce the damping factor and achieve more accurate results.
Is there a way to do this?
Thanks in advance
Kamil
