time dependent coupled thermal structural with slow & fast pressure & thermal pulses.

I ran a time dependent coupled thermal-structural problem with temperature dependent structural and thermal properties. When the thermal and pressure pulses were ramped up over two seconds no problem.

Identical problem but only over 5 ms for both pulses. Problem only goes to 3.5 ms and then explodes. Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Hi

have you checked your termal gradient at initial t=0 ? and do your mesh correctly resolve the gradients ? This is often forgotten or overlooked and might make the solver fail.

I often runa stationary case to get a coherehnt starting point, then run the time series, or I start from a well known temperature profile and I ramp up (smoothed step operator) the BC flux items

Good luck
