HEAT GENERATION AT RANDOM POINTS
Im using COMSOL 5.4 to simulate additive manufacturing using element activation method. I am able to successfully deposit 4 layers and monitor the heat distribution. I am using a Goldak double ellipsoid heat source (inspired from this module: https://www.comsol.com/model/welding-of-a-titanium-plate-110151). Now I want to implement dwell time, i.e., give idle time in between layers to monitor the cooling characteristics. I am using interpolation functions to define the path and dwell times. When I implement dwell time and start the next layer, I am getting heat generation at random points. The activation condition is given based on the current position of the heat source, but I couldnt figure out how heat generation occurs at random places in the domain. What could be the fundamental reason for this problem?? Can anyone suggest a solution?
Some parameters of my model: time step: 0.1 s meshing: extremely fine for the layers and extra fine elsewhere
