Phase change

Hello I was reading PDF of an example of application library named "phase change" which is about phase changing of water from solid (ice in -20 degC) to liquid (water in 80 degC). But I encountered a strange thing when i was reading about defining materials. It difines a blank material for Water and Ice and for the density of water it wrotes: rho_water*rho_ratio wich is equal to rho_ice, which rho_ratio is rho_ice/rho_water. I cant understand this. why do we have to use this parameter??? I would appreciate if you answer me.
