Defining flow fluctuation

Hello everyone,

I am using comsol for particle tracing in a microfluidic separation device where I am using a laminar flow profile with a constant flow rate. But I want to check if any flow fluctuation can affect my separation efficiency. If its true, then I want to find out upto how much fluctuation is acceptable for my device. Therefore, I want to add a flow fluctuation profile at the inlet. Is it possible to do that in Comsol, to add a flow fluctuation? My basic idea is that these flow fluctuation will induce pressure fluctuation which should affect the separation efficiency.

Hello

You can run a Parametric Sweep by defining inlet velocity as a parameter in COMSOL. That will run simulations for multiple flow rates. But these would be individual runs for constant flow rates.

If you want to do a time varying flow rate in a single simulation, you can always define an interpolation function if you have the desired profile.
