How can I compress a cylinder on the sides of it?

Hi all,

I am trying to compress a cylinder on the sides instead of the top/bottom, but I find it is hard to set up boudary conditions, what would the pressure type be like and what constrains should I add on?

Right now I am going to add two plates on both sides of the cylinder (as the attachment shows) and move one of them to achieve the compression but I also failed.
