Keep eigenvector of a stress tensor FIXED when eigenvalue becomes positive?

Dear all,

I am working on a mechanical problem of tensile failure. What I want to achieve is to Keep the eigenvector of a stress tensor FIXED when its eigenvalue becomes positive. That means I want to record the eigenvector at the moment when its corresponding eigenvalue becomes positive.

Do you have any ideas to do that?

Hi,

I would suggest coding the constitutive relation yourself through the External Material functionality. There you can easily store the state variables that you need, for example the normal of crack plane.
