2D- axisymmetric ring under compression loads and effects of a temperature rise

Please login with a confirmed email address before reporting spam

Hello,

I try to model the mechanical effects of a temperature rise for a ring under compression loads. It is a 2D axisymmetric problem. The ring is compressed between a support and a spring.

I do it in two steps :

1) during the first step, I evaluate the von mises stresses for the ring at 20°C. I use a fixed constraint on one face and a boundary load on the other face.

2) during this second step, I rise the temperature from 20°C to 60°C. I use a thermal expansion and I include the initial stresses from step 1. I use the same boundary load and a fixed constraint than in the first step.

I wonder if this model is physically logical.

Could someone have a look to my model and tell me if it seems good ?

Thanks a lot !
