I've seen figures like that before. I think you are simply seeing graphic artifacts. Try meshing the surface -- you might find that the jaggedness disappears (except for the usual mesh discreteness). Also, consider changing the graphics quality/resolution display settings under Preferences. You probably have it set at normal. Change it to fine, and take another look.

Dear Robert,
After meshing I cannot see any change yet. I've also changed the quality from normal to fine. What else do you suggest?
