overlapping knot geometry

Please login with a confirmed email address before reporting spam

Hi everyone. I have a question related to creating the overlapping geometry. The point is that I am simulating knot microstructure defined locally on tapered optical fiber. The problem is how to create the geometry of the area where the taper parts are overlapped (see the attachment). Is it possible to do using work planes parallel to the knot circumference plane located at the some distance or there is more straightforward way?

All the suggestions will be highly appreciated. Thanl you in advance.
