Elimination of influence of cutoff frequencies for particular modes of Lamb waves

Please login with a confirmed email address before reporting spam

Good morning,
the subject of my interest is calculating the transmission and reflection coefficients for Lamb waves when interacting with discontinuities (in my case notch). These coefficients are obtained by extracting the displacement vector and stress tensor in the in transversal direction along plate thickness. The problem is, when I am realizing the calculation inside particular frequency interval, which the cutoff frequency of particular mode, the results will be unusable. Is there any trick how to decrease the influence of this phenomena? The analysis is performed in frequency domain as 2D plane strain analysis. The cutoff mode is characterized by zero wavenumber, which is equal to infinite wavelength (uniform vibration of the structure, which might correspond to the eigen frequency).
