Inconsistency in 2D and 2D axisymmetric

Please login with a confirmed email address before reporting spam

Hi,

I am facing a discrepancy in results between 2D and 2D axisymmetric case. The problem is simple; I have cantilever beam undergoing deformation under gravity. Now I solved it for both these cases, and I am getting very different results. In 2D case, I am getting deformation close to experimental results. But in 2D axisymmetric case, it giving erroneous results. I am applying same boundary conditions, force(gravity tab) and material in both the cases. The material is silicone rubber, Poisson's ratio = 0.49, and Young's modulus is 1e6. I have checked the 'Nearly Incompressible Material' box to avoid "locking." But it doesn't make any difference in the results. I am assuming Linear Elastic material model as the strain in the system is less than 10%. What am I doing wrong?

Thanks.
