Acoustics in Electronics Series, Part 3: Hearing Aids
The commoditization of hearing aids with, for example, over the counter (OTC) products, has opened up the playing field for consumer electronics companies to develop new technologies that meet evolving consumer demands. Today's consumers are expecting better performance at an affordable price, and integrating modeling and simulation into R&D workflows can help companies meet these demands and compete on the market.
Accurate multiphysics simulations are crucial for understanding transducer behavior, sound propagation, and the influence of real-world factors such as ear canal acoustics, thermoviscous losses, vibration feedback, and background noise.
In this webinar, we will demonstrate how to model hearing aids with the COMSOL Multiphysics® software, using the built-in tools to analyze and design key components, including microphones, receivers, and vibration isolation systems, while also evaluating the device’s performance under real human ear conditions. We will showcase multiple examples, including a comprehensive in-the-ear hearing aid model that involves an acoustic feedback response analysis.
